Revelation 22

Journey Through The Bible
 Old Testament Reading:
Jeremiah 16-18
 New Testament Reading: Revelation 22

“Look, I am coming soon, and my reward is with me to repay each person according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end (Revelation 22:12-13).

Jesus Christ has defeated Satan and judged and condemned the unrighteous. A new heaven and earth have been created, now one act remains, the judgment of believers. The Apostle Paul said, For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may be repaid for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil. 2 Cor. 5:10

Jesus said, Look, I am coming soon, and for believers with an eternal view, it will happen soon. And when He comes, it will occur suddenly. He will come quickly. In connection with His return is the judgment of the works of the saints and a reward is promised for all they have done for the name of Christ. This is the joyous expectation of those who are faithful and the fear of those who are not.

It is unbiblical to become careless and lazy just because we believe Jesus is coming soon. Paul faced this problem with some believers in Thessalonica. Paul exhorted them, but as for you, brothers and sisters, do not grow weary in doing good(2 Thes. 3: 13).

My reward is with Me (v13), implies that God is mindful of our sufferings and our service, and nothing is ever be done in vain if we do it for Him. At the judgment seat of Christ, believers will be judged according to their works of service to Him, and rewards will be given to those who have been faithful.

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end (v13). What an encouragement these words of Jesus are to anyone who seeks to serve the Lord. Whatever God starts, He will finish. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. Christ is before all creation and He will continue to exist after the present creation is destroyed and the new earth is established. Blessed indeed are those that keep His commandments. They will receive their reward and spend eternity with Him in paradise.
